McLaren has dismissed a media claim that Ron Dennis attempted to recruit Christian Horner from Red Bull in 2014
A Dutch website has claimed that Dennis made a "serious offer" to Horner to become the new boss at McLaren in 2015, a move which would coincide with the arrival of Honda.
However, according to Helmut Marko, Horner was in no position to even consider the offer as he is tied in to a long-term contract with Red Bull.
Contacted by Pitpass to see if there is any truth to the claim, a McLaren spokesman laughed and said: "This rumour is total nonsense."
