Administrators claim that Caterham will contest the final round of the season in Abu Dhabi.

As reports of Marussia contesting the race gather momentum, having missed the United States and Brazilian events, it is now understood that Caterham, which also missed both races will be present for the season finale.

"We are now extremely hopeful that we will be going to Abu Dhabi," Finbarr O'Connell of administrators Smith and Williamson told Reuters today.

"I think I've got enough confidence now to say I'd be very surprised if we were not racing in Abu Dhabi," he added. "I'm now really hopeful for the future of the team."

Under the rules that bind the sport, teams can miss a maximum of two races without breaking the regulations.

Hours earlier, the team, along with Marussia (Manor) was included in the FIA's provisional entry list for 2015, entry for which had to be submitted by November 1.

O'Connell told Reuters that with the promise of new ownership the entry had been submitted, without a fee being paid, well before the final November 30 deadline which would have incurred a late entry fee.

"We're trying to sell a racing team and clearly a new owner will want to be racing next season," he said.

Revealing that staff had continued working at the team’s Leafield base without pay in order to keep it going, he referred to them as a "phenomenal team of people".
