Amidst speculation that he is the man to spearhead Ferrari's F1 revival, Ross Brawn says he has not been in contact with the team.

Of course, the former Technical Director, who achieved numerous titles with the Maranello outfit as part of a 'dream team' that included Michael Schumacher, Jean Todt and Rory Byrne, before going on to achieve further title success with his own team, which in turn morphed into Mercedes, will always be linked with the Scuderia.

Even a "personal" visit to Maranello with a few friends earlier this year sent the media into a frenzy, leading to denials from both sides.

However, recent comments from team boss Marco Mattiacci, who said Brawn would always be welcome back at Maranello, and the subsequent parting of the ways - to put it nicely - with Luca di Montezemolo - have put the Briton firmly back in the spotlight again.

However, talking to Auto Motor und Sport, Brawn appeared to pour cold water on the idea of a return to Maranello.

"I'm not considering a role at Ferrari or anywhere else at the moment," he said. "I'm not in contact with Ferrari and am not actively seeking a new role in Formula One,"

Only to leave the door well and truly open by adding...

"Never say never. Because you never know what opportunities can arise. I am currently pursuing some interests outside of sports that I earlier never had time for.

"I'm not crazy about going back into a full-time job so I let things come to me."
