During today's race Nico Hulkenberg quizzed his team as to why he had to cede position to Sergio Perez. After the race he was still confused by the situation.

"Going into the corner I was in front, going out I was in front, so explain where the advantage is," he argued after the race.

Hulkenberg was battling with Pastor Maldonado and Sergio Perez on lap 16 and ran marginally off circuit in the process.

"Going into T7 I was trying to overtake Pastor and at the same time I had Sergio in my neck," the Sauber driver explained. "I chose the outside because Pastor was inside and then Sergio braked into the inside as well so I got squeezed wide a bit.

"The car bottomed out and that right away pulls you across the kerb, across the circuit."

Sauber then instructed its driver to hand the position over to Perez, after Race Control deemed he'd kept a position by running off track and asked the team to move aside.

Despite his frustration over the incident Hulkenberg was satisfied with the final result.

"We should be very happy," he said after the race. "We can't be too greedy, not every weekend is going to be like Monza, (but) we'll take that one."
