Kimi Raikkonen's decision not to attend Spa today due to illness has further fuelled speculation as to his plans for 2014.

Earlier this week the Finn's manager, Steve Robertson, said that talks with Red Bull had ended, appearing to give the green light to Daniel Ricciardo taking over the seat being vacated by countryman Mark Webber.

At the same time, speculation regarding the Finn’s returning to Ferrari, with whom he won his title in 2007, started to gain strength.

On the first day of the Spa weekend speculation is reaching fever pitch and the news that Raikkonen is unavailable due to an unspecified illness has hardly helped the situation.

Some claim that the Finn couldn't be bothered with the inevitable media inquisition about his future while others say the decision to stay away today is intended as a message.

Whilst a few weeks back a return to Ferrari seemed out of the question it is believed that the Italian team is putting together an impressive package. On the other hand there are some who believe that Robertson's comments regarding Red Bull are a smokescreen and that the Finn could yet join his friend Sebastian Vettel next season.

At the same time, despite the team's insistence that all is well, it is looking increasingly apparent that Raikkonen's future is not at Enstone.
