Kimi Raikkonen and Daniel Ricciardo have both been handed grid penalties following today's qualifying session.

The pair were both penalised for not starting from the fast lane when Q2 was re-started after the red flag period that followed Felipe Massa's crash.

As Q2 started, with just under two minutes of the session remaining, a number of drivers appeared to try to jump the queue, indeed it could be seen that some drivers were three abreast in their eagerness to return to the track.

When hauled before the stewards, both drivers claimed they intended to make practice starts from the left hand side of the pit exit, as permitted. However this does not alleviate the requirement to leave in the order of arrival at the end of the pit lane.

In Raikkonen's case the Finn arrived in 4th position but left in 2nd, while Ricciardo arrived in 6th and departed in 4th.

Both having been adjudged as breaching Article 23.6 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations, they were each handed two-place grid penalties.

Pastor Maldonado, Sergio Perez and Jean-Eric Vergne were also investigated about their exits from the pit lane but were subsequently cleared of any naughtiness.
