Former BMW and Renault star Robert Kubica is to contest the European and World Rally Championships this year as he continues his recovery following a near fatal accident in February 2011.
The popular pole will drive a Citroen DS3 RRC having decided upon a schedule that will include seven rounds of the world championship in the WRC2 category starting with the Rally Canary, which is part of the European Rally Championship, on March 21-23. He will join the World Rally Championship on Rally Portugal three weeks later.
"I weighed up the different options before deciding on this programme," said Kubica in a statement. "I kept in touch with Citroen Racing and both sides were keen to continue working together.
"I'm really pleased now to be able to return to top-level racing," he continued. "I can't wait to start racing, but I haven't set myself any specific target. I still have a lot to learn in rallying and to improve I will need to rack up the miles on the stages."

Earlier this year, as part of his impressive comeback since his life threatening crash, Kubica took part in the official pre-season DTM test with Mercedes.
In order to accommodate the Pole, the FIA has given special dispensation for his car to be fitted with a paddle shift gearbox. The paddle will be installed to the left of the steering wheel, which will make it easier for the Grand Prix winner who suffered severe hand and arm injuries.
Faithfully derived from the DS3 WRC, the RRC version differs from its big sister in that it has more restrictive aerodynamic features and a smaller turbo flange.
