Robert Kubica, who is still targeting a return to F1, possibly as early as 2013, has crashed out of his latest rally though he escaped unhurt.

Just one week after winning the Ronde Gomitolo di Lana Rally in Italy, the Pole crashed out during the second of two tests for the San Martino di Castrozza Rally.

While the Pole and co-driver Jakub Gerber escaped unhurt the same could not be said of their Subaru Impreza WRC which could not be repaired in time for today's main event.

It is understood Kubica, one of the favourites for the Trofeo Asfalto event, lost control of the car in a particularly difficult section and ran into some trees.
