Glock cleared to race... if he's fully fit

After missing qualifying due to illness Timo Glock has been cleared to race, should he be fit enough.

After Saturday's final practice session, during which Glock, who had been suffering a stomach ache since Friday, remained out of sorts and well off the pace, he was given medication in an attempt to cure him prior to qualifying. Sadly for the team it didn't work and it was decided his condition was not good enough to allow him to participate in the session.

Naturally Glock did not set a time, and was therefore not within the 107% time all drivers must beat to be eligible to race. Marussia subsequently applied for dispensation to the stewards, who duly approved the application based on times set by the 30-year-old during practice.

However, Glock must still be cleared by the FIA's medical delegate before he will be allowed to start today's race.

Speculation had linked Marussia's reserve driver Maria de Villota to Glock's seat, though it was never a possibility. Once Glock had taken to the track for practice on Friday he was confirmed as a race driver for the team, though to further rule her out Villota doesn't possess the necessary FIA Superlicence required to take part in a Grand Prix.
