A gearbox change means Williams driver Pastor Maldonado will take a five-place grid penalty after today's qualifying session.

The team found a problem with the unit after the Chinese Grand Prix, opting to change it ahead of the Bahrain race in the same manner as McLaren changed Lewis Hamilton's gearbox after the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Williams has enjoyed a positive start to the 2012 season, with competitive outings in all three of the races thus far.

The team currently sits in seventh place in the championship with 18 points, a vast improvement on 2011 when the team amassed just 5 points all year.
