1996 world champion Damon Hill has joined Sky Sports F1 team.

During Sky's previous foray into F1 in 2002, Hill was part of the team, based in the studio along with Perry (The Stig) McCarthy, while John Watson shared commentating duties with Ben Edwards.

This morning, Sky Sports announced that Hill will provide expert analysis on its dedicated F1 channel for ten Grand Prix weekends over the course of the season, beginning with the Australian Grand Prix in March.

"Damon Hill is a British motor racing legend and has incredible Formula 1 knowledge and insight," said Sky Sports Executive Producer for Formula 1, Martin Turner. "He will provide our viewers with not just a driver's eye view, but also that of a world champion. There aren't many around and I'm delighted we'll have Damon with us during the season."

Speaking about his new role, Hill said: "The plans Sky Sports have for Formula 1 are very impressive particularly the dedicated Formula 1 channel and I couldn't resist becoming involved. There are so many reasons to be excited about the new season and I can't wait to get started."

Hill will appear on the channel's coverage of the Australian, Bahrain, Monaco, Britain, Germany, Hungary, Belgium, India, USA and Brazil GP weekends.
