Ecclestone claims Bahrain is off

Speaking to BBC Sport this morning, Bernie Ecclestone appeared to suggest that the Bahrain Grand Prix is back off the 2011 calendar.

"Hopefully there'll be peace and quiet and we can return in the future, but of course it's not on," he told the British broadcaster. "The schedule cannot be rescheduled without the agreement of the participants... they're the facts."

His words echo Max Mosley's comments yesterday, when the former FIA president revealed that the schedule cannot be changed without the written authority of the twelve teams.

Furthermore, he appears to contradict (FIA vice-president) Carlo Gracia's official claim that all is well - a result of the Spaniard's 'fact finding' mission to Bahrain during which he met various members of the Al-Khalifa family.

With Ecclestone and Mosley now appearing to sing from the same hymn sheet, it would appear that suddenly it is Jean Todt who finds himself caught in the crosshairs.
