Ferrari has officially announced that its 2011 contender will be unveiled at Maranello on January 28.

The date was confirmed by team principal, Stefano Domenicali at a press conference in meeting in the Italian ski resort of Madonna di Campiglio, where the team is hosting its annual media event, Wrooom.

Just four days later, the Italian team will join its rivals in Valencia as the first of four pre-season tests gets underway.

Last week, having missed out on the drivers' title following a disastrous strategic decision, a move that led to widespread criticism in Italy including calls for company president Luca di Montezemolo to stand down, the Maranello outfit announced that Chris Dyer has been replaced as Head of Race Track Engineering by former McLaren Chief Engineer Pat Fry.

Thus far, Lotus Renault GP, Sauber and Toro Rosso have announced that they will launch their cars in Valencia, while McLaren will unveil its 2011 contender in Berlin on February 4.

Revealing that he is no longer vice-president of the Formula One Teams Association (FOTA), Domenicali also made it clear that the car unveiled later this month will look radically different when it takes to the track in Bahrain for the season opener.
