Although it has not yet confirmed the exact date, Ferrari has announced that its 2011 contender will be launched in the "final week" of January.

After the Christmas and New Year holiday, the Maranello outfit officially returned to work today (Monday), though throughout the holiday period some areas continued work on the design of the new car and on parts production. Indeed, the Italian outfit has revealed that in the days leading up to Christmas the first 2011 car chassis underwent and passed a series of crash tests.

With the first test of the year due to begin on February 1 at Valencia, the Italian team also revealed that the launch of the new car is planned for the final week of this month however, unlike Toro Rosso and Sauber - the only teams to have announced their launch dates thus far - the event will no doubt take place in Maranello rather than Spain.

Next Monday sees the start of the team's traditional media event Wrooom in Madonna di Campiglio. Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa will both be in attendance tackling various winter sports before taking on the usual challenge that brings the week to a close, when they get behind the wheel on the frozen lake in the Trentina region on Friday 14 January.
