Racing legend Stirling Moss has launched what can only be seen as a scathing attack on seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, describing the German as "flawed".

The 81-year-old, runner up in the Formula One World Championship no less than four times, and widely regarded as one of the greatest all round racers and the best driver never to have won the F1 title, claims that Schumacher's titles are "misleading".

"The fact he was seven-time world champion ruins what being a world champion is all about," said Moss, according to Sky Sports. "He is flawed. He was all over the place. We never saw him at his best when he had a really good driver alongside him. "We never saw him in a Ferrari with a driver of similar talent really, so I think that (his number of titles) is misleading.

"The most important contribution he had was dragging Ferrari back to the top," he continued. "But the fact he is carrying on next year is interesting, although quite frankly, I wouldn't be worried if I was up against him. I don't think he regrets coming back, but it was ill-advised."

With Moss joining the long list of racing personalities to come out and criticise Schumacher's return to the sport and even his success first time around, one wonders when James Naughtie will get his turn.
