Red Bull designer Adrian Newey has been hospitalized after being involved in an accident whilst taking part in a round of the Ginetta G50 Cup at Snetterton.

The Englishman, who was competing in the event as a guest driver, was t-boned by a rival having previously been spun around by another competitor.

According to Ben Constanduros who is commentating at the event it was while Newey was stranded in the middle of the track that his car was hit on the passenger side.

The race, which was part of the British Touring Car Championship meeting, was immediately red-flagged and Newey taken to hospital for what have been described as "precautionary checks".

The 51-year-old, who has designed championship winning cars for Williams and McLaren and whose Red Bull RB6s currently lead both championships, is a keen competitor and was recently given one of his RB5s as reward in appreciation for his contribution to the Milton Keynes team since joining at the start of 2006.
