Ferrari has been fined $20,000 by Race Stewards at the Circuit de Catalunya following an incident during today's qualifying session.

During Q3, at the beginning of the final shoot-out, Fernando Alonso exited his garage right into the path of Nico Rosberg who needed to take avoiding action. Although the two cars didn't touch and Rosberg was able to avoid clipping the pit-wall, the German subsequently told his crew that the Spanish driver deserved to be punished.

The Race Stewards - who this weekend include former F1 driver Derek Warwick - subsequently adjudged Ferrari to have released their driver unsafely and hit them with a fine. Alonso was not penalized.
