It is understood that Charlie Whiting, the FIA's race director (right), official starter and safety delegate, is in the process of visiting US F1's North Carolina HQ in order to report back on the state of the team's progress. The FIA is giving little away however, visiting team's facilities is part of his schedule.

With just over two weeks to go before the season kicks off, and in the wake of team boss Ken Anderson admitting that he is asking the FIA permission to miss the first four races, the ability of the team to make it to the grid this year is the subject of intense speculation.

While there is continued speculation as to whether YouTube founder Chad Hurley is still with the team, with reports saying that he is now in talks with Campos Meta, as Pitpass has previously reported, the team has lost a major sponsorship deal - now thought to be worth as much as £32m over three years - as well as its former head of business development, Brian Bonner.

Hopefully, Whiting will be able to determine the real prospects of US F1 making it to the grid this season in addition to finding Peter Windsor who has been unusually quiet in recent weeks.
