MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi got his two day test at the Circuit de Catalunya underway today, the Italian completing 300 kilometres in an F2008.

The car, which was used by Ferrari to win the 2008 Constructors' Championship, can now be used following the end of a two-year embargo - due to new technology protection - and is now part of the stable managed by Maranello's F1 Clienti department, and was set up for the nine-time MotoGP world champion for his sixth outing in a Ferrari Formula 1 single-seater.

Rossi completed 68 laps, expressing his satisfaction after a briefing with the technicians: "I'm happy. It was a good test, although it was wet in the morning and without grip I had some problems. Fortunately it dried off in the afternoon I could use the slicks and improve my lap times."

The Italian, who posted a best time of 1.25.200, is back on track tomorrow when he will conclude his test.
