The F1 Commission has agreed that the Brawn team will be allowed to change its chassis name from Brawn to Mercedes next season.

The Brackley-based team will continue to receive payments based on its historical performance.

According to the FIA this has been granted on a one-off exceptional basis due to Mercedes-Benz's long-term involvement and commitment to Formula One.

Last month, Mercedes announced that it had purchased a 75.1 percent stake in the Brackley-based outfit which first entered F1 in 1999 as British American Racing (BAR) before being bought by Honda in 2005. Almost one year ago to the day, Honda announced it was to withdraw from F1.
