Yet another deadline for Donington

The future of the British GP threatens to descend into outright farce as Bernie Ecclestone gives Simon Gillett and his Donington team yet another deadline extension.

The situation is now so downright ridiculous that there is no real motivation to come up with amusing analogies relating to the amount of extra time Simon Gillet has been given, though it's fair to say that even Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson would be impressed.

Today, as yet another deadline came and went, Ecclestone - his options fast running out - chose to give Gillett another two weeks in which to find the necessary funding and prove it.

"Donington Ventures Leisure Limited has another two weeks to demonstrate our credentials for hosting the British GP," said Gillett in a brief statement issued today.

"We remain committed to delivering on the promises we made at the start of this process," he added, "and have the interests of the sport and its fans at heart."

The words "bulls**t" and "bo***cks" spring to mind, for right from the very start of this pathetic little saga "the sport and its fans" have been of absolutely no concern to either Gillett or Ecclestone.
