Sergio Perez (right) was handed a 25 second time penalty after the race stewards judged that he overtook a competitor under safety car conditions following the chaotic start to today's sprint race in Portimao.

The Mexican, who finished second to Luca Filippi after a number of competitors were handed drive through penalties for overtaking the safety car at the restart, was also handed a drive through for his efforts, which was converted to a 25 second time penalty, dropping him to 11th position.

As a result Javier Villa is promoted to second, giving Super Nova a 1-2 in the race, with countryman Dani Clos filling out the podium. Local hero Alvaro Parente moves up to fourth place, ahead of iSport duo Diego Nunes and Giedo van der Garde, while Perez loses the point for fastest lap to Filippi.

The change in positions means that Super Nova are promoted to third place in the team's championship: they and Fat Burner Racing Engineering both move up to 67 points and have the same number of race wins, but Super Nova claim the position with the highest number of second place finishes.
