Ferrari and Spanish bank Santander have scheduled a press conference for Thursday, thereby sparking widespread speculation that the two are on the verge of officially confirming one of the worst kept sponsorship secrets of recent years.
Ever since Fernando Alonso's departure from McLaren after just one season, there has been continued speculation regarding Santander's continued relationship with the Woking team.
Then, when rumours first surfaced linking the two-time World Champion with a move to Ferrari it was inevitable that the Spanish bank would be also be linked with the Maranello outfit.
Earlier today, Ferrari and Santander announced Thursday's press conference and while the deal is sure to be confirmed it is understood that an announcement regarding Alonso is unlikely this weekend.
Santander's three-year partnership with McLaren terminates at the end of the year.
