Speaking to reporters in Hungary, Rubens Barrichello appears to be giving up hope of continuing in F1 next season, what would be his eighteenth season.

Asked whether he will be on the grid next year, the Brazilian said: "Next season is too far away.

"I love the sport, I've been doing this for 17 years," he continued. "Ninety-five percent of my feelings are to keep on - I love this, I have a lot of speed in myself - but five percent tells me 'why do you need this?' It's something that plays on my mind, even though its only five percent."

Out-performed by his Brawn teammate this season, the Brazilian lashed out at the Brackley outfit following the recent German GP, leading to speculation that his time with team might be reaching an end.

Speaking in the wake of Barrichello's outburst, Eddie Jordan, who gave the Brazilian his big break in F1 back in 1993, said he deserved to be sacked for his public criticism of his team.
