Red Bull boss, Dietrich Mateschitz, who also owns the Toro Rosso F1 team, has warned that he will pull out of the sport next season if the FIA goes ahead with its current budget cap proposal.

In the wake of similar warnings from Ferrari, BMW and Toyota, Mateschitz told Salzburger Nachrichten: "If the proposed rules for 2010 stay unchanged, we will not take part in the 2010 championship. Manufacturer teams will no longer take part. Of the current teams, only two or three will remain."

Mateschitz, a good friend of FIA President Max Mosley, whilst acknowledging the need for cost cutting, feels that the creation of a two-tier series - which is the only possible outcome under the current proposals - believes that such a move would be against the spirit of F1.

The Formula One Teams Association is hoping to meet with Mosley ahead of the Monaco GP.
