Speaking in London yesterday, Max Mosley said that although he can see Lewis Hamilton winning further titles with McLaren, the English youngster will eventually follow the example of so many other winners and head to Ferrari.

"If I were Hamilton I would be happy to be at McLaren," said Mosley, according to the Guardian, "and I would be happy to move to Ferrari at some point in the future.

Quick to point out that he had not heard any whispers on the F1 grapevine, nor that he is to introduce a rule stating that all top flight drivers have to drive for Ferrari, Mosley added: "Gerhard Berger, who spent two separate spells at Ferrari, but never managed to win a world championship, said there was no better feeling that a formula one driver could experience was winning at Monza in a Ferrari."

While many F1 legends have driven for the Maranello outfit's F1 team, many haven't, most notably, Jim Clark, Ayrton Senna, Jackie Stewart, Stirling Moss, Mika Hakkinen, Nelson Piquet , Graham Hill and Jack Brabham.

Asked about the ongoing row over the cost of superlicences, Mosley is sticking to his guns, revealing that he has warned the drivers that their complaining makes them look ludicrous.

"The drivers are the principal beneficiaries of all the money invested in safety measures," he said. "To live in a tax haven, pay no tax, then to complain about having to pay 2% of your income (for their licence), it's just so silly."

And in case anyone has any silly ideas, the FIA President reminded the drivers that; "anyone who wants to drive in the Australian grand prix next month needs a super licence".
