At a special "welcome home" event at his team's Woking HQ, the McLaren Technology Centre, this morning, 2008 World Champion Lewis Hamilton pledged to remain with the team for the remainder of his career.

Because of the nature of the event, billed as "a private event for McLaren employees", the media was under instructions to keep everything under wraps in a clear attempt to prevent the celebration becoming a frenzy, such is the excitement Hamilton's title success has kick-started.

Delighted to be back home, Lewis told the assembled workforce that he had no intention moving elsewhere, not now, not ever.

"I'm with the team I've always dreamt of driving for, and I've got the car I always wanted, so why change?" he said. "I don't know how long I'll be in F1, but I want to see my career out with this team, and that's my plan."
