Maldonado quickest on Day 1

The GP2 teams enjoyed a trouble-free day with impeccable reliability today at the Circuito de Velocidad in Jerez.

The 24 drivers completed 1412 laps in total, covering 6252.336kms overall. Already quick this morning, Pastor Maldonado posted a 1:24.727 in the afternoon, three-tenths clear of Koudai Tsukakoshi, who continues to impress in the Piquet Sports car.

DAMS' Kamui Kobayashi finished ahead of another competitive rookie Nico Hulkenberg in the second ART car, and they were followed by Karun Chandhok (FMS), Andreas Zuber (Racing Engineering), and this morning's fastest man Davide Valsecchi (Durango), Diego Nunes in the second Piquet car and Alvaro Parente in the second Racing Engineering car. Russian Vitaly Petrov completed the top 10 at the wheel of the Campos entry.
