This morning, Jerez was the scene of the GP2 Series first major test session of the winter. A resurfaced track combined with the GP2/08 car's performance improved last year’s fastest laptime by almost 3 seconds.

Italian Davide Valsecchi set the pace for Durango ahead of newcomer, Williams test driver, Nico Hulkenberg at the wheel of ART. The German’s teammate, Pastor Maldonado, was third with a 1:25.025 lap, while rookie Koudai Tsukakoshi placed his Piquet Sports in front of countryman Kamui Kobayashi (DAMS).

Tsukakoshi’s teammate, Diego Nunes, was next up ahead of iSport’s Giedo Van der Garde, Karun Chandhok(FMS) and newcomer Charles Pic at the wheel of the second iSport car. Andreas Zuber completed the Top 10 for Racing Engineering.
