While no real details regarding today's meeting between the FIA and FOTA have emerged, other than the briefest of statements, it is understood that both parties are pleased with the progress made.
An FIA spokesperson tonight described the meeting to Pitpass as being "constructive", adding that sport's governing body; "welcomed the teams' proposals and looks forward to taking the discussion forward."
It is believed that one of the agreements reached - though not confirmed by either the FIA or FOTA - is that from 2009 engines will have to last for three race weekends, whereas at present they only have to last for two.
Furthermore, it is understood that the manufacturers will be obliged to supply a package of 25 engines for no more than 10m euros a season - a move aimed at bringing the grid up to the required twelve teams.
Following their meeting in Shanghai at the weekend, the ten teams that comprise FOTA will now meet again over the Brazilian GP weekend, before meeting with Max Mosley again later in November.
