Further to previous reports, Kimi Raikkonen, who lost out on a certain win in France, looks set to take advantage of the new rule which allows each driver one engine change without penalty.

The Finn was lucky to finish second at Magny-Cours after a broken exhaust cost him the win and two precious championship points.

Speaking ahead of this weekend's race, team boss Stefano Domenicali admitted that it is almost certain that the Finn will make use of the new rule.

"As far as Kimi's engine is concerned and keeping the rules in mind, to avoid a penalty, I think that we will use a new unit to try to reduce the risk," said the Italian.
