Hakkinen loses French home in fire

Two-time World Champion Mika Hakkinen lost his newly-built home in a fire at the weekend.

The Finn was not there when fire broke out in the mansion, which is located close to Grasse in Provence, however, his girlfriend and a friend were. Thankfully, they escaped unharmed, though the same cannot be said of the recently completed mansion, which has all but been destroyed.

It is understood that the fire, which broke out in the early hours of Saturday morning, was caused by a short circuit in one of the Finn's many trophy cabinets.
