One key aspect of the Red Bull Young Driver programme is that it rewards strong performances on the race track with the opportunity to drive a Red Bull Racing Formula 1 car, either as part of the test programme or at a Formula 1 show run. Driving a Grand Prix car in the early stages of a career is all part of the training that is at the heart of the Red Bull Young Driver programme.

Recently, Canada's Robert Wickens and Kiwi Brendan Hartley have both got the call to sit in a Red Bull F1 cockpit and next weekend the name of Red Bull Junior driver, Jaime Alguersuari will be added to this list.

The Spaniard is to drive an RB4 when Red Bull Racing travels to the Idiada Proving Ground, in Spain, for straight line aero testing over the weekend of the Turkish Grand Prix.

Alguersuari, who has just turned eighteen, is currently lying third in the British International Formula 3 Championship, driving for Carlin Motorsport. Last year, he finished second in the Italian Formula Renault series and fifth in the European Renault series.

At Idiada, Jaime will be standing in for Red Bull Racing's usual test and reserve driver, Sebastien Buemi, who will be competing in the GP2 event at Istanbul Park. Alguersuari has recently been nominated for Spain's prestigious Gillette Future Champion Award.
