Super Aguri will contest Spanish GP

Despite reports that Super Aguri will not be taking part in this weekend's Spanish GP, including rumours that the team merely sent spare parts to the Barcelona track and no cars, the Leafield based outfit will be contesting the race.

With less than an hour to go before the start of the opening session, mechanics are working on the cars in order that Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson can get to work, making up for the fact that they were the only team not testing here last week.

How the team's weekend is being funded is not known at this point, however, many F1 insiders believe that fearing losing a team at a time when F1 is already facing a crisis would have been enough for Bernie Ecclestone to broker a deal, possibly underwriting some of the costs himself.

It is thought that talks with the Magma Group and Dubai International Capital are continuing, though several other potential purchasers are understood to be "sniffing around", providing the price is right.
