On the first day of testing at Barcelona, it's cold and wet, with little action in the first couple of hours.

Following the incidents at the previous test here, security has been tightened considerably. All media passes are now bar-coded and these are scanned as journalists enter and leave the paddock.

McLaren is barricaded off from the rest of the teams, while, following the throwing of missiles a couple of weeks ago, netting has been placed above the pitlane.

According to our sources, McLaren will not be running today, and with a major promotional event in Germany on Thursday, it is thought the team might only run tomorrow.

Fernando Alonso is on track today, while Renault teammate, Nelson Piquet, was one of the first to be caught out by the difficult conditions, spinning off just fifteen minutes into the session.
