In the wake of their decision not to award McLaren Constructors' Championship points should its cars finish in the top eight, the race stewards have issued the following clarification:
"It is the view of the Stewards of this Meeting that competitors are awarded championship points appropriate solely to the position attained by them in the results of the race regardless of whether or not a competitor finishing ahead of them in the results has Championship points withdrawn."
