As the so-called Stepney-gate saga gathers momentum, threatening to cast a shadow over this weekend's British Grand Prix, if not the entire 2007 F1 season, the FIA has issued the following statement:
With the full cooperation of both teams, the FIA has initiated an investigation into matters involving Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro and Vodafone McLaren Mercedes.
The remit of this investigation will focus solely on the requirements of the International Sporting Code and the Formula One Regulations.
