BMW to decide on Kubica on Thursday

Following his horrific accident at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on Sunday, BMW driver Robert Kubica was lucky - to put it ludicrously mildly - to escape with nothing more than bruising and a sprained ankle.

However, the German team has said that it will wait until the Thursday deadline before confirming whether the Pole will take part in this weekend's United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis.

Should BMW opt to rest Kubica this weekend - which might be an idea considering the demands of Indianapolis - either Sebastian Vettel or Timo Glock would step into the hot seat. Neither driver has experience of the American circuit.

The Pole is due to be released from hospital in montreal later today (Monday).
