Singapore Minister of State for Trade and Industry S. Iswaran has said that his country has won the rights to host a round of the Formula One World Championship next year.

He was unable to confirm whether the event will be held at night as has been widely speculated, but revealed that the race will take place in late September or early October.

The announcement, yet to be officially confirmed by FOM, comes 24-hours after it was revealed that Valencia is to host a race next season, conditional on current president, Francisco Camps, being re-elected.
