Rubython and Purnell return to court

BusinessF1 editor Tom Rubython is back in court tomorrow (Wednesday), when Lord Justice Chadwick, Mr Justice Evans-Lombe and the appropriately named Lord Justice Laws consider his appeal regarding the level of damages awarded to former Jaguar and Red Bull team boss Tony Purnell following his successful libel action in 2006.

Although Purnell won the case, Rubython is appealing the level of damages.

At the time, Mr Justice Gray guided the jury as to what he thought a level of compensation might be. However the jury decided to award Purnell an even higher amount (£75,000). It is this that Rubython is appealing.

Meanwhile, as previously reported by Pitpass, following (McLaren boss) Ron Dennis' call to fellow team leaders to unite and express their lack of confidence
in BusinessF1, we hear that further talks did indeed take place in Bahrain at the weekend.

Our sources tell us that no one in the meeting would go into any detail and would only confirm that the discussions had happened. Some believe that they may want to keep their plans confidential until exactly the right moment. Dennis had previously urged team bosses to express their concerns about the magazine and the inaccuracy of its reporting.
