Malaysia GP: Practice notes - BMW

NEWS STORY

In the first two free practice session for the Malaysian Grand Prix none of the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers were really pleased with the set up of their cars. Robert Kubica was seventh fastest and Nick Heidfeld tenth.

Robert Kubica: We have had many problems today. Some we were able to fix in second free practice, but there is still some more work to do to fix the rest.

Nick Heidfeld: I am not happy with my car yet. Especially at the beginning of the session the balance was not good at all, and the car was difficult to drive. Although later we made a step in the right direction, there is still a lot of work to do.

Sebastian Vettel: I had a trouble free morning. My main task was the comparison of the two different tyre specifications and we got a lot of data. This is a new track for me and I found it wide and relatively difficult to learn. Particularly in corners ten and 11 and 13 and 14 it was not easy to find the right line, but I got used to it pretty quickly.

Willy Rampf (Technical Director): Both our race drivers complained about the lack of car balance. Despite several modifications to the set up of the car, we were not able to make a significant step forward. We now have to analyse all the data in order to understand where this problem comes from.
