The weather forecast for this week's test sat Barcelona, therefore this morning's bright shies and warm sunshine were a pleasant surprise, especially following the disruption caused by bad weather at the two previous tests.

However, just when the eleven teams, not to mention Bridgestone, thought they were in for a perfect test, running in ideal conditions, the rain began to fall.

At around 13.30 (local time), a few spots became a a downpour, and though no lunch break had been scheduled, the teams opted to take time out.

While Williams' Alex Wurz is topping the times, ahead of de la Rosa, Kubica and Raikkonen, Felipe Massa hasn't even managed a lap, the Brazilian's Ferrari causing the first of the day's numerous red flags when it ground to a halt in a cloud of smoke on his installation lap.
