The weather conditions remained warm with blustery winds in Spain on Thursday as Jenson Button joined the Honda team at Jerez, the Englishman posting the fastest time of the day.

Taking over from Anthony Davidson, Button began his running with a short aero evaluation as he worked on finding a good balance in the car. He then spent the remainder of the day focusing on tyre work to evaluate the options for the forthcoming Brazilian Grand Prix.

James Rossiter continued for a second day. He completed some early set-up runs to establish a good balance before working on an aero evaluation. The English youngster spent the afternoon session looking at the tyre options for the next races, alongside electronic systems and suspension work.

For BMW, Nick Heidfeld continued work on the new electronics system for next year. At the same time he tested various set-ups and evaluated tyres for the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Meanwhile, Robert Kubica worked on a major tyre programme in preparation for the race at Interlagos. In addition he tried different set-ups which, according to the team, revealed some promising results.
