Reuters is reporting that former Minardi boss, Paul Stoddart, has submitted an entry for the 2008 Formula One World Championship.

Since selling his team to Red Bull in late 2005, Stoddart has made no secret of the fact that he is already missing F1, and this weekend's Australian Grand Prix - where his team scored an historic and emotional result in 2002 - will surely add to the Australian's desire to return.

Speaking to Reuters today (Tuesday), Stoddart said; "I've lodged myself an entry as European Minardi F1 team Limited."

However, a return will not be easy. It has already been agreed that entry to the 2008 championship will be limited to 12 teams, and there are already 11, with several more interested parties, including David Richards, Jean Alesi and Eddie Irvine, waiting in the wings.

Furthermore, Stoddart, who in 2005 was the unofficial spokesman for the 'rebel' teams, and a constant thorn in the side of FIA President, Max Mosley, who would be loathe to re-establish the relationship.
