As Jean Todt revealed last week, Ferrari's 2006 contender - provisionally designated the 657 - made its track debut at Fiorano today.

Michael Schumacher did 51 laps over the course of the day, the quickest in a time of 59.569.

That's the news according to Ferrari, however, according to the Italian Press Agency, things didn't run entirely smoothly, indeed the test was brought to an early conclusion when the car stopped on track with a suspected fuel pick-up problem.

Development testing of the car is due to resume on Friday 20th January, again, at Fiorano.

The car is due to be launched at Mugello next Tuesday (24).
