At a time when sections of the media are getting their knickers into a right twist over who goes where in 2007, and in particular who might line up for Ferrari, team boss, Jean Todt, took the opportunity to attempt to put the record straight whilst he had the attention of various journalists at Madonna di Campiglio on Friday.

In particular, he wanted to clarify the situation regarding MotoGP star, Valentino Rossi.

"He is going to do some further tests in the next few months," confirmed the Frenchman. "He likes to assess us in Formula One.

"He took a commitment and for us it's a pleasure to see him driving our car in tests," he continued, "though I cannot say if one day he is going to drive Formula One as an official driver or not because many elements are missing in this.

"Firstly, we are going to have to be sure that he wants to do it. Then, we are going to have an availability within the team. So there are many elements involved and I say this with great transparency and great honesty.

"The only thing that I cannot manage are interpretations that have been made," he added. "If someone wants to interpret correctly what the situation is one has to do it basing it on my words in reality. Instead, if someone wants to make people dream or to increase the sales of one's own magazine one can say that Rossi is going to drive in Formula One in the future."
