The British magazine Autosport is claiming that WilliamsF1 will announce, in "a matter of days", that Nico Rosberg will drive the second WilliamsF1-Cosworth in 2006 alongside Mark Webber.

The magazine, which previously reported that Jacques Villeneuve was to be dropped in favour of Anthony Davidson earlier this season, claims that the British team wants to make the decision as early as possible this season in order that the German can get as much test mileage as possible.

No official announcement has been made by WilliamsF1, and no spokesman was available at the time of writing.

Currently, Rosberg and Antonio Pizzonia are under consideration for the second seat, the Brazilian having replaced Nick Heidfeld in the last five races of the season.

Pizzonia has made it clear that should he fail to get the race seat, having been passed over in 2005, he will head off to the USA.
