At a meet the media day at Brands Hatch, during which, journalists were given guided tours of the historic track in traditional black London Cabs, Former F1 World Champion, John Surtees, now running the British entry in the A1 GP series, revealed that Robbie Kerr will start the first two rounds, at Brands Hatch and the Eurospeedway..

Kerr is one of two drivers scheduled to represent Britain, the other being Alex Lloyd

"Our driver policy was partly dictated by who was available because of other contracts, and who we believed could do a good job for the team," said Surtees, "particularly based on the previous promise they had showed and most importantly the test that was held at Brands Hatch. A1 Great Britain has to look at the longer term.

"Robbie is slightly more experienced and older and this showed up in testing so we will give him the first opportunity," he continued. "If the second car had been ready this would have given Alex more time in the seat but it isn’t and as we have only one car we have to allocate it to Robbie. I am hoping that Alex in the meantime will manage to get himself some drives so that he can get himself up to speed. How we use him in the future will depend purely on what is best for the team and the situations we find ourselves in. It is not beyond possibility that the team will also have occasional guest drivers. Therefore at the present time Robbie is taking responsibility for the first 2 drives at least and we will review the situation after Germany."

It's a brilliant opportunity for me." said Kerr. "People will learn who I am and that makes it easier to go to teams or sponsors next season."
