Err... what was that David?

NEWS STORY

Asked about the threat of a strike by F1 drivers earlier today, David Coulthard dismissed the story and to all intents and purposes accused the media of creating it.

"Why do you do it?" he asked.

Simple really David, it's because you yourself said there would be a strike, in your own "exclusive" column for Scottish tabloid The Daily Record.

Last Saturday (July 16) the Scot warned of the possibility of drivers striking, then a couple of days later dismissed the threat.

However, writing in the very same paper just a couple of days later (July 19), Daily Record journalist Frank Haynes made it quite clear where the story had originated: "Coulthard revealed in his exclusive Record Sport column on Saturday such action was possible due to the drivers' ongoing concerns regarding safety and medical back-up at test sessions, which falls below the standards set over the course of a grand prix weekend."

That's why we do it David, if a newspaper article carries your byline people tend to give it credence, silly fools.
