Jordan has confirmed that test driver Robert Doornbos is free to leave the team and join Minardi if he is offered a race seat for this weekend's German Grand Prix.

The Silverstone team's announcement follows Minardi boss Paul Stoddart's admission that Patrick Friesacher has run out of money and is unlikely to be able to continue paying for his seat with the Faenza outfit.

Following last week's news, several drivers have been linked with the Minardi vacancy, with Doornbos widely tipped as favourite.

A Jordan spokeswoman today confirmed to Pitpass that should Minardi want its test driver, it will not stand in his way.

"We will certainly help him if he wants to have a race drive," she said. "Therefore Jordan has agreed to release him if he goes to Minardi."

Although Minardi doesn't have to confirm its line-up until Thursday, it's believed that an announcement will be made on Wednesday.
